Akoni - Akari (Green Tortoise Swirl)

The distinctive Akari spirit builds upon lessons taught by the Master of Modern Italian design, Gio Ponti. A prolific renaissance man who defied categorization, Ponti designed some of the twentieth century’s most iconic furniture, textiles, and home furnishings. But today, he’s best known for designing one of Europe’s most revered skyscrapers: Milan’s Pirelli Tower, whose masculine, mid-century style and elegantly tapered lines are distinctly echoed in the Akari silhouette. Like Ponti, Akari celebrates structural detail through the use of a curved brow bar floating above its bold, acetate rims. And like the master, Akoni adds just a touch of embellishment in the form of its now iconic titanium temples that are perfectly complimented by intriguing lines subtly pressed into the frame’s titanium surfaces.
